Hurricane Ian

Hurricane Ian is expected to bring water and wind. He will also bring an opportunity for Professional Realtors® to provide exceptional customer service and value to their customers.

Here are the recommendations I am making to my team:

  • Prepare: https://www.noaa.gov/hurricane-prep
  • I strongly recommend sharing the articles below with all your current and past customers.
  • For all listings, active or pending, pull the sign and put it somewhere secure to prevent the wind from ripping the sign out of the ground and causing property damage or bodily harm. Notify your sellers that you are doing this so that they don't worry.
  • For vacant listings, I also recommend that you do a walkthrough video inside and out before and after the storm to give your sellers peace of mind and documentation of any damage the storm may have caused. Use extreme caution if you see downed power lines, tree damage blocking a road or through a roof etc. If it does not look safe, do not enter the home. Take photos from a distance and contact your sellers as soon as possible.

If you broker advises differently, listen to them not me. Let us all hope that these steps are overkill. At the end of the day your customers will know that you are there as a trusted advisor and friend. You can be reassuring eyes and ears in their absence and save them unnecessary worry.

I am sure I speak for all of the other local brokers and real estate leaders when I say if you need help, just ask. Realtors® are family.
