Alachua Highlands & Shaw Farms are neighboring communities in the City of Alachua just north of Gainesville, Florida. They are largely surrounded by the San Felasco Hammock Preserve State Park and the newly developing San Felasco Parkway. The lots vary in size from 2.04 acres to 30 acres, with a median lot size of 5.03 acres. There are 133 parcels in total, and the homes in these communities have effective build years ranging from 1984 to 2022. Sizes range from 1240 SF to 5362 SF. At the time this information was posted, Alachua Highlands had a minimum build size of 1500 SF.
Conveniently located, these communities are approximately 30 minutes from the University of Florida campus (Tigert Hall), 29 minutes from UF Health Shands Hospital and 17 minutes to HCA Florida North Florida Hospital.
The communities are governed by two separate Homeowner Associations, and the roads are privately owned. The Alachua Highlands Homeowner’s Association is self-managed, wiht annual dues of $200 per year as of 2024, most of which are allocated for road maintenance and replacement reserves. The Shaw Farms association charges $325 per year, and their expenses are similar.
Residents of Alachua Highlands and Shaw Farms include horse lovers, dog lovers, and people who those who seek the peace and quiet of country living.
